The Cursed Life of Thackery Binx is a potential animated series that focuses on the life of Thackery Binx during his 300+ years on earth.
The project was first teased on September 30th 2024 by the voice of Binx himself, Jason Marsden via his Instagram page. In the video we see Marsden playing with a cat Halloween toy before mentioning a secret project, followed by a very quick glimpse of a promo image. The following day on October 1st, Jason posted again, this time revealing more about the project “I guess the black cat’s outta the bag! I’m putting together a proof of concept for a Thackery Binx animated series. I plan to share snippets of the project all month long, leading up to a special post on Halloween. Stay tuned!” The post included a video where it was revealed that Emmy Award winning writers Max Bowdry and Francisco Parades were working on the project, along with animation director storyboard artist Chad Wilson. Only a few days later on October 4th, Jason once again shared more details about the project on Instagram. In his post he stated that the project would “Explore the question: what happened to a newly immortal Thackery in his feline form! It was 300 years before Max Dennison lit the Black Flame Candle, imagine the adventures Binx would have up until that point”. The post was also joined by concept art and a video of Jason discussing more about the project. |

That’s where all the rituals are, that’s where the history is rooted and it just seemed like the perfect place to set Thackery on his first adventure” Jason also revealed that they may have heard “from a certain studio” with regards to the project, alluding to the possibility that Disney are indeed interested. |
Two days later on October 17th, another update was released and this time Marsden shared details around the first episode. The episode will take place one year after Thackery has been turned into a cat and sees Thackery tormented by visions of Emily and mocking apparitions of the Sanderson Sisters. He now sees all magic, magical creatures and witches as evil and has emotionally shut himself off from the world, that is until he meets new character Cara. The post included a video of Marsden discussing the project, along with more concept art.
