An earlier script for Hocus Pocus was released online and this particular script is dated Wednesday May 13th 1992, five months before they would begin filming in October.
This script contains many differences to the October shooting script, so it's clear to see a lot of changes were made within those 5 months.
Unfortunately the original source of this script could not be located (if it's you, please get in touch!) but you can download the script for yourself via the link at the bottom of this page.
Let's take a look at some of the big changes in this script.

Let's take a look at some of the big changes in this script.
In this script Hocus Pocus opens slightly different to what we see on screen, in this opening Thackery and Elijah are first seen together appearing out of bushes right outside the Sanderson Sisters house, who are inside. A big change right away is that they're both actually brothers, with Thackery being the older of the two at 13 years old and Elijah is 10.
They peer through the window of the cottage to see the Sanderson Sisters inside. Although the description is slightly different for the three sisters, they still sounds like the Sanderson Sisters that we know. The only difference is Winifred has a slightly different appearance as she is described as "her fingers have grown talons, her teeth have sharpened".
Although Mary is described as being able to "follow the scent of a child like a bloodhound" it is Sarah who actually smells Thackery and Elijah outside the window.
They both hide underneath the window as the Sanderson Sisters look through it, trying to find the source of the smell. As they're looking a "ghostly white form" can be seen approaching the house. It's Emily and she's under the witches spell, sleep walking.
They both notice it's Emily and even after Thackery calls to her, she does not stir. Once again Elijah tells Thackery to "run to town and fetch the elders" and just like in the film, Elijah does just that.
Just as they're about to poison Emily, Elijah bursts through the door. He throws a stool at Winifred, which misses her. In doing so the spoon containing the potion falls onto Mary and sizzles. Thackery takes a long iron pot off the wall and swings at the witches. Mary then shoves Sarah at Thackery and he hits her on the head with the pot. He overturns the cauldron.
Thackery then runs for the door but is hit by a massive jolt of electricity and falls to the floor. He comes to and is greeted by the witches looking down at him. He is then tied up. They once again turn him into a cat, but this scene plays out slightly different and the spell they cast upon him is slightly different too.

The door then swings open and we cut to the townspeople ready to hang the Sanderson Sisters. Emily is still alive and is now with her brother Elijah.
After asking where Thackery is, the townspeople begin to burn the witches, Wini shouts an alternative spell at them and then they're hanged.

The scene here ends with Thackery watching from the bushes, "Watery marble eyes blink slowly. When they open, they're looking up at..." and we jump to 1993 Salem and the High School.
Allison Williamson is 15 and is the "prettiest girl in town" and "Ben and Alan (14, town's geeky outcasts)." We're introduced right away to two new characters.
Miss Olin asks what the "cultural significance of Halloween and our own local history might perhaps share some common ground?", while a robotic tarantula is slowly making it's way across the floor towards Allison. In this scene instead of Allison explaining the significance of Halloween to Max, Alan instead responds to Miss Olin, he even states that he thinks the "most improperly dumped-on witch hunters, swore they'd come back to avenge themselves on Salem's children.... that would be us" and how he believes a black cat guards the old Sanderson house. A mixture of both Allison's and Miss Olin's comments in the film.
The spider crawls onto Allison's foot and she flips it away. The bell rings and as they all leave, she glares at Ben who shrugs and points at Max.

In the hallway we learn more about Allison as Ben talks into his "locker-rolodex". Allison was born June 20th 1976 and her "family assets exceed 7 digits". In this scene max talks with Alan and Ben and says that they both made him look like an idiot in front of Allison.
As they all leave the school, Max heads past them both while Alan and Ben talk.
Alan: "Prediction"
Ben: "Predict on"
Alan: "Our young apprentice shall crash 'n' burn."
Ben: "Agreement. The night grows near. We must prepare."
Alan: "Prepare on."
We cut to Max at the bank of Salem, he wants to take money out of the ATM and notices that Allison is there, he "stares and stares at her".

She calls him immature and the conversation continues with Allison asking Max his name and then after he tells her that Alan and Ben were using the spider to try and help him break the ice, she responds with "Well, Max, you should tell them to stop doing things for you, they're making you look like a jerk. 'Bye."
So far it seems Allison's character is coming across very differently to what we first see of her on screen. Max then rides out of the mall on his bike and rides directly into Jay and Ice.

Ernie appears to be the leader of the two. He asks to try on Max's shoes after threatening Max with a knife. The shoes don't fit and so Ernie slices the heels out.
The next scene jumps to Mountain Bike Park, outside of Salem. It's described as a "ski resort that's a mountain bike park in the off season." Max "rides by an old cemetary and up to the ticket booth with purpose. He takes the ski lift."
Max then "suits up" and is about to ride his bike off "Suicide Gorge" when "he chokes", he backs away as Ernie and Jay fly past him on their own bikes and down the gorge. He then returns home.
In the first scene at home, Max's Mom is called Terry but then referred to as Jenny. I assume this is a typo.. She also calls him "sweetpotato pie". The scene is almost identical here with Max complaining about school and then his parents telling him he has to take Dani trick or treating.
In Max's room he has "Bud Light babe posters" on the wall and is a huge Neil Diamond fan. His bedroom is in the basement.

Dani scares Max and although he threatens her, he backs down when Dani says "Halt! If you touch me I'll tell everyone what you were doing'!" They argue over trick or treating until Dani storms up the stairs to tell her parents.
We cut to Max and Dave talking inside Dave's workshop. This scene is almost identical to the deleted scene we see on the 25th Anniversary Blu Ray, however this time Max tells his Dad more about his school life and what happened to his shoes.
We cut to Max and Dave talking inside Dave's workshop. This scene is almost identical to the deleted scene we see on the 25th Anniversary Blu Ray, however this time Max tells his Dad more about his school life and what happened to his shoes.
Dave threatens to take away the possibility of Max getting his drivers permit this year, unless he takes Dani trick or treating.
It's Halloween night and Dani is dressed as a witch, this time with a fake nose. Max is dressed in his baseball cap and "Wayfarer IIs." In an original scene there is a montage where Max is explaining his costume to different people as they stand in the doorways asking for candy. In this script Max is explaining his costume to Dani instead.
Dani: "I've got our route all planned. We're going to clean up... Where's your costume?"
Max: "I'm a dope dealer."
Dani: "Unacceptable"
Max: "I'm Christian Slater"
Dave then asks what Max is supposed to be and he say's "I'm a baseball player." Dave goes to take a picture of them both and they both flee the house.

We have an extra scene with the Devil in which Dani is terrified of him and also additional explanations from Max as to what his costume actually is.
Dani ends up with a full sack of candy and asks Max to hold it, he refuses.
Max: "Your night. Your candy. You carry it."
Dani: "Fine, I will! I liked you better when you were a kid."
Max: "I liked me better when I didn't live here. Oh sh*t. Come on, we're done."
Dani: "There's more houses!"
Max curses in this version of the script! Dani ignores Max and continues walking right ahead... right towards Ernie and Jay. The scene with Jay and Ice threatening Dani is almost identical here, the main difference is Dani saying "if you don't gimme my candy I'm gonna tell him to beat you up. Max!"

Max hands over his Swatch to Ernie, who also calls Max "Maxipad". As we can see from the scene above, Dani is still as Sassy as ever.
As Max and Dani continue down the road, they argue until Dani ends up sitting and crying on the curb. They talk for a brief moment, share a candy bar and then Max notices the street sign they've been sitting under. They're on Chestnut Street, which is where Allison lives. They ring the doorbell to Allison's house and she answers wearing a Space Princess Costume.
They go inside, Allison offers them cider. As she leaves the room to grab Max a glass, Dani asks Max why he just doesn't tell her that he likes her. When she returns, she tells Allison that Max likes her but Allison seems to brush it off and instead comments on Dani's costume.

Once again the scene is almost identical to what we see on screen. The only minor differences are some of the dialogue and Allison is the one to first offer to take them to the Sanderson Museum, which happens to be on "Emily Binx's hill."
Dani threatens Max that she'll tell Allison that he listens to Neil Diamond if he doesn't stop hitting her. To Max's surprise Allison actually likes Neil Diamond too.
Allison: "I don't believe it, you listen to Neil Diamond? (beat) I love Neil Diamond."
Another difference here is Allison stating that they found the bones of "a hundred children buried in this hillside" instead of the walls around the Sanderson Cottage.

The witches ashes are buried under the house and we finally get our first glimpse at Binx. Binx sits "twixt the gang and the house" and meows strangely at them. Just like in the shooting script, Max throws a stone at Binx and he runs off. They enter the house as Max flicks on a mini-mag.
Allison states she used to play with Ouija boards with her friends in the house, but it's now looking very different. Three wax witches are also huddled around the cauldron.
The black flame candle is described as being made from "the tallow of a still born calf" along with "the fat of a hanged man". The candle was used "by the sisters to illuminate the pages of the spellbook while they conjured. When Max reads it "will also raise the dead when lit by a virgin on Halloween night" he says "Guess I'm out then".

A very big change from script to screen here, is that in this version of the script Binx doesn't actually talk to them all, only "those who believe in magic" can hear him. When he meows Allison and Dani understand him perfectly, however Max only hears a cat meowing.
As they go to leave Max notices that Dani doesn't have her candy. He knows that if they return home and Dani has nothing, he'll never get his drivers permit. So while they all look, Max uses his lighter to help light the room and then decides to light the candle to use for light...
Underneath the Sanderson House light "erupts from the ground, carrying the buried ashes of the witches in streams up through the floorboards".
Instead of the Sanderson Sisters bursting through the door upon their return, the light from the ashes goes into the wax dummies surrounding the cauldron.

The kids are hiding but Mary can smell them. The Sanderson Sisters begin to scan the room, looking for where they're hiding. Winifred flips a table and finds Dani hiding underneath. This scene is identical to what we see on screen, however when Dani is about to leave "The witches howl with evil laughter and seize Dani with their talon-like hands. They are about to tear her to pieces when a voice shouts...."
Max is holding a bucket of rain water and he throws it over Wini, "soaking her thoroughly".
Max is holding a bucket of rain water and he throws it over Wini, "soaking her thoroughly".
Dani comes to the rescue by hitting Winifred with a pot. Winifred then grabs Dani with both hands and lifts her off the ground. Allison then attacks Wini but is knocked down with a "blow of her hand". Binx jumps onto Wini and starts "scratching and clawing her savagely."
Mary tries to grab Allison but she punches her in the nose. As Max comes to his senses he notices the sprinkler system on the ceiling.
Dani finds her candy bag just as Max leaps onto a table and just like we see on screen, he uses his lighter to "summon the burning rain of death." As the witches freak out, Binx jumps onto Max's shoulder and tells him to get the book, this time Max can hear him.

As they leave the house, the kids all stop.
Max: "Wait a minute! I wanna know what's goin' on?!" and Binx makes sure to let Max know that he's in charge by shoving his paw in Max's mouth and telling him to shut up.

After the kids follow Binx, back at the house the Sanderson sisters have realised it's just water. They leave and the black river scene plays out, but instead of them screaming at the Firetruck approaching, Sarah instead calls it a "Dragon" and then they hide in the bushes. Mary declares the fireman as "Witch-hunters!" instead of Wini.
Jump back to the kids and they're at the "Salem County Cemetery." The kids argue with each other until Binx tells them to "Knock that stuff off or I'll turn this car around right now!"
Jump back to the kids and they're at the "Salem County Cemetery." The kids argue with each other until Binx tells them to "Knock that stuff off or I'll turn this car around right now!"
The Sanderson sisters watch as the Firetruck leaves and Sarah calls it a "Crimson vessel of witch hunters" which contains "tools of torture". Another change here is that Mary is the one to eat a wood-beetle off the house, instead of Sarah eating a spider.
Winifred is telling the sisters that they need to find the book to perform a spell. She then stops the sisters and tells them "Sisters, consider thy arms" and as they dig their fingers into their arms, they get wax. They're not in human form!
Back at the graveyard the kids are following Binx through the graveyard. A "skeleton wielding scythe appears from nowhere, they scream. Just a sculpted gravemarker" which just so happens to be Billy's grave.
Max: "William Butcher. Murderer. Thief Drunkard."
Binx: "A versatile guy, he was, Billy the Butcher"
Max: "Oh right, like you knew him"
Binx then let's Max know that he did indeed know Billy, along with "Napolean B., Mark Twain, Tom Edison, Davy Crockett, Chuck Lindbergh, Babe Rude and Walt Disney, too,"
We also discover that Billy was strung up and the "witches stole his body from the gallows, brought him back to life to raise a little hell." They didn't just sew his mouth shut either, they cut out his tongue before doing so.

Jump back to the Sanderson Sisters house, it's wrecked. They each whistle to summon their flying devices, Wini gets a standard twig broom, Sarah "a modern type nylon-bristle angle broom" and Mary "a 30 year-old chrome-railed Electrolux vacuum" which slaps her in the forehead with it's handle. They take to the skies.
As they look over Salem, Winifred remarks "Salem village is a change'd world. Many witches burning regular now."
Back at the graveyard the kids are talking with Binx, Dani asks if he likes being a cat, in which Binx let's them know that he did to begin with as he was able to sleep a lot and "prowled around at night", a family also took him in, but then "the years started to pass. I watched my parents grow old and die, and my brothers and sisters... and their children, and their children. But I was always left behind." We also learn that Binx tried to kill himself but he always survived.

Binx tells the kids that they cannot let the Sanderson Sisters get the spell book. Dani mentions that they did magic at the house, so why would they need the book?
Binx: "Good pint. As near as I can figure, they have minor magic at their beck and call. Ya know, unseen force, fireballs from the palms, bewitchments, cetra cetra."
Allison: "If they get it back, what would they do with it?"
Binx: "I only saw them conjure with it once. They'd cooked a potion that, as near as I could ever figure out, they planned to give to the children of Salem Village"
Max: "For what?"
Binx: "I don't know"
The Sanderson Sisters appear above and the children first realise when a cord drops between them from Mary's vacuum.

The Sanderson Sisters want their book back, Mary flies at Dani after she calls her "fatso" and is only inches from the ground before flying back into the air.
A big change here is that in this version of the script, the spell Wini recites to bring Billy back is very different, she also has the Black Flame candle with her and "unpockets" it before saying the spell. Once the spell is complete she lights the candle and Billy begins to rise from his grave.

The kids run from Billy, who loses his head once again on a low branch. He manages to find it and reattach. As the kids follow Binx, he runs towards the cemetery wall and the witches appear, hovering in front of them. Mary lowers herself to grab Binx but he jumps right over her and into the bushes. Dani and Allison slide under Mary and into the bushes too and then Max follows, Sarah hovers in front of him as Billy almost catches him. He slides under Sarah and into the bushes as Billy crashes into Sarah "knocking her into a dizzying series of crazy aerial loops". Billy tears away at the bushes, but rips at them so hard that his arm flys off.
As Winifred curses Binx, Mary's nose suddenly "tears off in some direction" and she knows exactly where they need to go.
Underneath the cemetery Max makes a torch from rotting cloth and wood. Binx mentions that underneath the cemetery is a great place to hunt moles and shrews, which Dani thinks is gross. He then let's her know that he can't just role up to a drive-thru.

As the Sanderson Sisters fly over Salem, Mary is leading the way with her nose and Winifred notices "they'd be a million lanterns, not pyres. The world has grown".
They then land in someones front lawn:
Mary: "My nose never lies! I smell children!"
They're surrounded by children dressed in costume and just like in the film it's confusing for them all.

Winifred notices that the children are ringing doorbells and receiving gifts, so she decides they should do the same. They use their skirts as bags and Wini works out how to use the doorbell. The door opens and it's the Devil! In the script notes the house is noted as Mr Noonan's House. He has a name!
A big change here is the fact the Sanderson Sisters don't go into the Devil house, instead he gives them each candy and when Sarah points out that he has a wife, he let's them know that "I still fool around."

Winifred quickly works out that the Devil is not their master and that the children are all in costume. When she pulls the mask off a child, he calls them "freaks" instead of weirdos.
It's then that Wini get's the idea of making candy for the children and the Candy Crow storyline comes into play.
It's then that Wini get's the idea of making candy for the children and the Candy Crow storyline comes into play.
Another big change is when we return to the kids and Binx, they actually visit Binx's home. It's filled with treasures from three centuries. When Dani asks how he got all of the stuff in his home, Binx mentions that his "Brit friends of mine helped, Eddy and Winston, bulldogs"
After Dani helps open a can for Binx, they all watch in awe as he eats with a spoon.
Binx: "What?"
Dani/Allison/Max: "Sorry, sorry, sorry."
Max tries to burn the book with his torch, but once again, just like in the film the lighter does nothing. We then find out the Emily dies only a year after Binx was turned into a cat.

Unfortunately he doesn't go into details but does let the kids know that they need help. He asks who do they trust the most and Max says his Dad. An echo is then heard in the entrance tunnel, it's Billy making his way closer to Binx's home. They quickly decide to leave before he catches up to them.
Back with the Sanderson Sisters and they've just made it to the grocery store. Inside they find a Halloween candy display:
NEW AND IMPROVED! "Little Candy Voodoo Crows!" they fill their broom bristles with boxes of the candy and speed out of the door.

The same scene with Binx getting hit by a car as they climb out of the manhole plays out here, with only minor changes in the dialogue. As Binx is telling them that he can't die after the Sanderson Sisters gave him "nine million lives."
Billy once again loses his fingers in the manhole cover. The kids are making their way across Salem Waterfront while they argue over Max lighting the candle.
Allison: "It was just a dare, you didn't have to do it! If I dared you to jump off a bridge, would you?!"
Max: "If you dared me... Yeah, I would"
Binx/Allison: "You would?"
Max: "Uh-huh"
Allison: "You're crazy!"
Max: "You're impossible"
Binx: "Ah... true love"
Binx then looks back and Billy is close by. He's just about to grab the kids when "a telephone pole erupts from a corner and blindsides Billy, knocking him into the ocean. Alan and Ben appear, shouldering a big wooden cross. They're "wolving candy"
They seem to have no idea that they just knocked Billy into the ocean as Max thanks them.

Ben and Alan are eating crow candy which they got from "some hags" at the "Haunted House extravaganza." As Ben and Alan leave to go back and get more candy they stop and notice Max and Allison together.
The kids are now on a hill above the Salem Country Annual Haunted House Night. An old warehouse has been converted for the night and the they're watching as the Sanderson Sisters are handing out Candy Crows. As two kids walks by, Binx scares them into dropping their candy and Max inspects it.
In the October script, the Candy Crows are made by the Sanderson Sisters, but here they're using pre-made candy and bewitching it. The candy is used to bewitch the kids and when they sleep, they're taken by the Sanderson Sisters.
As they're watching the kids taking the candy, Dani eats the Candy Crow that they have.
Dani's fate is sealed and so Binx races down the hill towards the witches. He comes flying out of the shadows and lands directly onto Winifreds face. He attacks Wini and the "Halloweeners" spread out, everyone thinks it's part of the Haunted House act.
Max, Dani and Allison grab all of the candy that is scattering on the floor and take it from the kids too. While this is happening Sarah and Mary grab Dani, Allison hits Sarah with a Jack o Lantern bucket which explodes with Candy Corn. Mary and Sarah flail forward and "their sharp teeth pierce the corrugated metal sliding of the warehouse. Sparks fly as dentin meet aluminium"
Back to Wini and she's thrown Binx at the wall. Winifred is "a gruesome sight" and the kids think it's all part of the act, but then she and Sarah both change... a hellhag!

Wini then sets Binx on fire, who is quickly put out by Max who dunks him into a Bobbin' for Apples tub. The kids decide to flee, knowing they can't stop the Sanderson Sisters.
The Sanderson Sisters, now back to their normal selves, fly off on their broom in search of the children, but not before Winifred looks at all of the children eating the Candy Crows and says "See you all real soon, kids!".
We're now in the woods and Binx is telling the kids that the witches will kill all of the kids in town with a potion that drains their lives. Dani starts to feel unwell and so Binx tells them that they need to get to their parents asap!
The Sanderson Sisters are back in the sky, looking over Salem, trying to find Max, Dani, Allison and Binx.

Back to the kids and they're now at the town hall, trying to find their parents.
The scene with the parents in the town hall plays out almost identical to what we see on screen, with a few changes in dialogue. It's not until the Sanderson Sisters enter that there are a few changes, the first being Mary letting out a massive fart when asked if she's a good witch.
Instead of the Skeleton Singer singing on stage, the towns Mayor, dressed as Long John Silver steps up to the microphone and announces it's time for the costume contest. As the Mayor announces the costumes that are on stage, Wini spots Dani. Wini gives a sharp whistle and Mary and Sarah spot Dani too. The mayor continues to call out the different costumes as they close in on Dani.
Dani then climbs up on stage, grabs the mic and shouts "Max, they're here!".
The costumes that are mentioned here are quite interesting: Saddam Hussein, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Julia Child.
Max jumps on stage and tries to warn the townspeople, but sadly no one believes him. They see the Sanderson Sisters as just an act and applaud them. The kids then escape just as Billy goes on stage to catch them, he wins first prize in the contest and then loses his arms.

The kids are now running through the streets of Salem, while the witches are also trying to hunt them down. They talk about trying to stop them and Allison suggest "You drive a wooden stake through it's heart, of course" but Binx responds with "No disrespect but this is reality! If it was that easy everybody'd do it. There are only two ways, hang them or burn them."
Another new location and this time it's a Drive-in movie theatre. The theatre is playing Night of the Living Dead and the Sanderson Sisters fly close to the screen.
The kids are making their way to the high school and we jump back to Billy, who has managed to put his arms on back to front. He's at a "Don't Walk" signal and he's just standing there.
The witches are catching up with the kids and have also made their way to the high school after tracking their scent. There's a brief scene on the basketball court, where Mary declares the hoops as gallows.
The witches are catching up with the kids and have also made their way to the high school after tracking their scent. There's a brief scene on the basketball court, where Mary declares the hoops as gallows.
They enter the boys locker room and Sarah thinks the lockers are for hanging kids off the hooks inside. They also call the pool a drowning pool and the gym is a torture chamber. In one of the actual deleted scenes, we see Wini being pushed into the pool by Sarah and Mary, but this doesn't happen in this script. It does also mention that Billy is with them, but in a later scene it jumps back to Billy at the do not walk sign... so I assume this is an error.
Binx is listening from outside the door to the gym and hears Wini telling the Sanderson Sisters that they need to find the book before the sun comes up "or we're dust."
He then gets their attention and a chase begins. They mount their brooms and fly after him, but when they mount their brooms and fly into the corridor he is gone. They're greeted by the school corridor that stretches our in several directions.
Mary uses her nose to locate the room they're in and they find themselves in the ceramic shop. Instead of a tape playing french inside the kiln, it's instead a recording of the kids and Binx, they also use their own socks as scent, which are inside the kiln too.
They close the kiln door as Winifred once again curses out at Binx.

The kids are celebrating outside the school but this quickly changes when they notice that the smoke from the chimney is "forming 3 sinister shapes. The Sanderson Sisters are reforming."
Max: "Then we gotta hide"
Binx: "There is no place where Sarah's nose will not follow"
Max: "Then we gotta throw her off the scene till dawn"
We jump back to Billy at the Don't Walk sign. It changes to Walk and he walks into the street, but then it changes back to Don't Walk and he once again stops... in the middle of the street this time. Back to the kids and Dani is getting tired. Max is telling her to stay awake.
Jump to Jay and Ice and they're shave creaming a car. They step in front of Max and asks "Ain't it past your bedtime?"
In a clever move Max convinces Ernie to trade his stolen shoes back for his jacket, cap, wayfarers and his last sock. They also get a hug from Allison and Dani's candy.

Allison gives Jay a big hug and rubs all over him. She gives Ernie a quick hug, Binx rubs his leg and Dani shakes hands with them both and then they continue on their way to Binx's "favourite restaurant."
They head to the dumpster out the back of a seafood restaurant and there they meet two alley cats. One called Love Bite and the other is Half Tail. They're Binx's friends. Love Bite and Binx used to have a thing too. As they climb into the dumpster to disguise their smell, the witches and Billy are close.
The kids have managed to bury themselves under all of the seafood waste, napkins etc as Mary looks in and declares that she's "lost them."
Winifred then spots Love Bite and turns nice, she pulls out a live mouse from her magic sack and ask's if she would like it. Mary and Sarah also want it too. She asks Love Bite if she has seen the kids and Binx and she meows in the affirmative. Wini then asks where they went and Love Bite points her tail in the same direction that they came from.
Wini hisses at her and drops the mouse, which causes Mary and Sarah to both dive for it. They both bash into each other and the mouse escapes.
They then jump back on their brooms and fly off back the way they came. Once again in search of the children.
The kids climb out of the the dumpster, while Binx and Love Bite rub against each other affectionately.
Dani is tired and wants to go home and Max agrees. They begin to make their way back home.
We jump back to Jay and Ice, the scene in which Ice has eaten too much candy starts off the same, but the dialogue quickly changes. After insulting the Sanderson Sisters, they fly 6 feet into the air, which scares them both and they make a run for it.

Back at the Dennison house and the kids have locked all of the doors and windows. Max has his bat ready, just in case and they're planning on hiding there until the sun comes up. This scene is very similar to how it plays out in the film, some of the dialogue is different and Max and Binx have a sweet moment too.
Max asks how many lives Binx has used up so far and we find out he has 'died' 321 times already.
Max asks how many lives Binx has used up so far and we find out he has 'died' 321 times already.
Another big change here is the fact that Dave and Jenny return home. Dave asks if Dani is with him and thanks him for taking her out. He then says "That new girlfriend of yours? Hubba-hubba. Way to go. Night" which embarrasses Max and he apologises to Allison.
We then jump to another new comical scene with Jenny and Dave in their room.
We then jump to another new comical scene with Jenny and Dave in their room.
The Sanderson Sisters are flying over Salem trying to find them, but having no luck at all. We return to the Dennison house and the script note says they're in Max's Attic Bedroom... but isn't his room in the basement? Another error it seems.
Max falls asleep and Allison decides to open the book, which cause Max to wake up. They begin to look through the book together to try and find a spell to help Binx. When Allison first opens the book however "Pages riffle. the words are in flux." The books pages are constantly changing.

Instead of a beam of light that shoots from the house, "An orange flame'd force rises from the book... collects around the ceiling searching for a way out" It then heads into the heater duct and makes its way outside the home, to create a beacon for the witches to find. Just like in the film, Binx stops them (with different dialogue) and we cut to another brief scene with Jenny and Dave.
The witches land gently outside the house and Wini pokes her finger through the screen in the window to the parents bedroom. They're too distracted to even notice the witches sneaking into the room.
The kids spot the Sanderson Sisters from their window and they decide to make a stand against them.

The kids step out into the hallway, Max has his baseball bat and they need salt. Meanwhile the Sanderson Sisters are hiding at the foot of Dave and Jenny's bed. Wini looks out the window at the full moon and casts a spell to make the parents fall asleep.
Wini: "Spirits of the moonlit sky, make them sleep, until they die."
In the Kitchen Max grabs the salt and a slightly different scene plays out.

When they return to the bedroom (once again in the attic) the spell book is gone, Max pulls the covers off Dani to find Mary hiding underneath, instead of Sarah.
Max tries to hit Wini with his baseball bat but is knocked out by the spell books blast. When Allison then throws salt around them both, the salt lands slightly on Mary's hand, which begins to sizzle and burn.

Another big change is when the Sanderson Sisters return to the house. In this scene Winifred opens the spell book, lights the black flame candle and holds out her little sack.
Winifred: "Evil'd things that peck and fly. The house has come to fill the sky!"
And with that thousands of "Spectral little Candy Voo-Doo Crows fly out." They're then "whisked along the rivers of the conjured smoke from the Black Flame Candle."
The smoke streams into homes across Salem and the crows flutter above the children's beds.
Winifred: "Little ones, asleep so sweet, I have more for thee to eat."
The children then lick their lips in their sleep and the crows dissolve into their dreams. The children leave their rooms, without waking and make their way to the Sanderson Cottage.

Dennison House, Max has come round after being knocked out. Dani is missing and Max needs his Dad. When they enter Dave and Jennys bedroom they're "Ghostly white... like corpses" they've been cursed. They then look out of the torn screen in the window and see the "Pajama-Zombie" kids slowly making their way to the Sanderson Sisters house.
They try and wake them up by shaking them, but it's no use.
Allison: "What're we gonna do?!"
Max: "Don't ask me, I can't make the sun rise!"
Allison: "Yes you can... come on. Can you drive??"
Max: "Absolutely!"

Jay and Ernie are hanging in cages at the witches house, Dani is strapped to a chair and Binx is still trapped in a sack, hanging off a hook. Mary is trying to fatten Jay and Ice up by forcing them to eat candy and the wrappers they come in.
Outside the house Max and Allison are on their way. Max is trying to drive past the children without hitting them. Billy... still in the road notices the oncoming car and his impending doom and is hit by the car. He hugs the windshield and is hit by the wipers that Max is using to try and get him off.

Billy... still in the road notices the oncoming car and his impending doom and is hit by the car. He hugs the windshield and is hit by the wipers that Max is using to try and get him off.
The potion is ready and Wini takes a spoon, she moves toward Dani but surprisingly goes to Jay and Ice instead. When they protest against drinking it, Mary takes a hot poker from the fire and threatens them with it. They both drink and surprisingly the Sanderson Sisters suck the life out of both of them. They both age 90 years each as the witches get younger.
It's not enough for them though and as Wini points to the window, she sees the children approaching, The Sanderson Sister want to take the life from all of them and live for a thousand years.
As Max and Allison arrive at the house, they cut the lights. Billy flails off the hood of the car and crashes through the front door. This scene then plays out almost exactly the same as in the film (once again with slightly different dialogue) and they trick the witches with the car lights. Allison is also playing a nature soundtrack in the car, to make it seem like birds are chirping with the rising sun.

The witches realise quickly that they have been tricked, they take to the skies with Billy following along. To our surprise, although they're old Jay and Ice are still alive.
The chase scene from the Sanderson Sisters house plays out very similar to the original storyboards that we see in the 25th Anniversary Blu Ray. Instead of just Wini attacking Max and he's driving, we start with Mary landing on the roof of the car, Allison hits the breaks and Mary flies off into the road.
Sarah appears at the side of the car and instead of Binx scratching her, Dani traps Sarahs head (listed as Mary in this script but also Sarah, so i'm assuming another typo) in the electric window and then Binx scratches her. Allison once again drives over Mary who is in the road.
Winifred then shoots a fireball at the car tyres, which causes the tyre to go flat and the car swerves, causing Allison to stop the car.

They're near the cemetery, so Binx takes Dani and Allison along with them, while Max creates a distraction. He lifts his bike out of the trunk of the car and straps the spell book to the rack. Just as Dani, Binx and Allison are about to head towards the cemetery, Allison runs back and kisses Max.
Max: "Wha -- wha --- wha --- what --"
Allison: "Be careful"
Max: (full of it now) "Hey! Witch! I got your book!"
Max is making his way along narrow trails with Wini close by. She's flying Mary's vacuum. She tries to attack him with the hose and manages to hit him, luckily he doesn't fall and instead shoots down a ravine. He then makes his way back to Suicide Gorge and this time manages to take the plunge, he jumps off with Wini following close by, she pulls some tricks and heads down after him.

He manages to make his way to the cemetery to meet Binx, Dani and Allison, just as the witches arrive. Allison tries to hit them with the baseball bat.
Billy appears and races towards them but as he hits the circle of salt "he howls in pain and ignites like a pile of kindling. Hoppin' 'round, he dissolves from the feet up, until finally he is just a head, and then... he is a memory."
Winifred tries to convince Max to give her the book "I will give you everything you desire. Power! Wealth! Women!"

The ending scene above is insanely different to what we see on screen. Winifred casts a spell to raise the skeletons in the cemetery to attack the kids and Binx. The kids fight them and keep knocking them to pieces, but they keep coming back, not in the same order though. With skeletons putting themselves back together wrong, but ultimately theres too many of them and they manage to take Max's baseball bat and the salt circle does not work on them. They grab the spell book and throw it up to Winifred and with that the skeletons stop.
Just as Winifred thinks she's victorious, Binx flies out of the trees and attacks her, she pulls him off her face and throws him down to Emily's grave, just like we see on screen. Max manages to escape the skeleton which is holding him back and rips the skull off "it's vertebrate base.' He throw it at Winifred and it's a direct hit, she plummets to the ground.

The final scenes with the Sanderson Sisters see Winifred turn to stone, but this time her statue doesn't explode and instead an engraved inscription appears "Winifred Sanderson. Born 1617... Hanged 1692... Died 1992."
Mary and Sarah also turn to dust and to our surprise, as the book falls to the ground, it too turns to dust.
Binx is no longer alive and appears as a ghost above the kids. The curse is broken.

Binx is no longer alive and appears as a ghost above the kids. The curse is broken.
The final scene with Thackery, we see him say goodbye to them all but there is no "I shall always be with you" instead he says his goodbyes, shakes Max's hand "as best they can" and then his spirit "shoots quickly into the morning sky and vanishes from view."
When Dani looks down. She finds the cat is still alive. He can no longer talk and only meows at Dani when she asks if he can talk.

Allison then grabs Max and pulls him close.
Max/Allison (simultaneous):
"Thanks for saving my life back there ---"
(beat, both)
"Pinch-poke, you owe me ---"
The kiss.
Back at the Sanderson Sisters House, the sleeping kids wake up and start to panic. Alan and Ben start to help them. Jay and Ice have had their youth returned and are still trapped in the cages.

In the last pages of this script, we see that the Salem Daily Prodigal has a photo of a stone angel on the front cover, along with the headlines:
Night of the Pajama-Zombies!
Hundreds of Sleeping Kids Gather at Witch House
Mysterious Gravestone Appears
Traumatised Local Boys Found In Cage
Hoax or Hysteria?
Parents Baffled.
Dave blames it as a "cult thing" and Jenny responds with "There are no cults in this town."
Max, Allison and Dani are watching a Tv News report. Alan and Ben are taking full credit for stopping the Sanderson Sisters and returning all of the kids of Salem to their homes.
Max: "Every station. I can't believe those guys. They're taking credit for everything!"
Allison: "So what, who's ever going to believe them?"
It then ends with Alan plugging his new book "Prepare Thyself, The End is Near by Alan Schotznick" and Ben plans to run for office.
